The monochromic use of purple and brown are shaded using hydrofluoric acid on sheets of blown, flashed glass. The horizon emits with a gold or silver stain on a white background. The glass is leaded, laminated and mounted in the traditional way.
The halo, the crosses, the constellation are represented by pearls/beads positioned/placed in front of the glass and held in place by round pins fixed to metal rods. A cornucopia of vegetation and flora is painted in grisaille or silver stain.
The reinforced laminated glass (type STADIP 33/2) is panelled, mounted with spacers and held in place by ties on the outside. The installation will nonetheless be sympathetic to its site, echoing traditional historic features, blending and toning with exterior stone-work.

Creation of contemporary stained glass windows.

The process of realization for these 14 stained glass windows is quite unique. Each window is inspired by photographs of children which are re-created in clay using traditional sculpture bas-relief techniques. A plaster-cast is made from these clay models which is used to form a heat-resistant mould. The stained glass is then poured over this, using slumping.” Pascal Convert

Realisation of the five stained glass windows in the chapel.

Industrial glass, painted with grisaille, fired and glazed again using a light antique glass.
Barcelo’s figurative bas-relief imagery, with its sombre palette, decorates the lower section of the chapel. Its artist-made painterly marks, strongly evoke the sense of a watery grotto.
